SMSC and British Values
What are British Values?
Fundamental British Values underpin what it is to be a citizen in a modern and diverse Great Britain valuing our community and celebrating diversity of the UK.
These values are Democracy, Rule of Law, Respect and Tolerance, Individual Liberty.
What is SMSC?
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development is the over-arching umbrella that encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum.
All schools in England must show how well their pupils develop in SMSC. As part of work in this area, it meets Article 2 for the Rights of the Child where they apply to every child without discrimination.
SMSC is 'at the heart' of our school ethos. It helps children aspire to be the best person they can be locally, nationally and globally. Through our lived Christian Vision our values and our curriculum we endeavour to support all our pupils to be the best that they can be!
